Building a culture of accessibility

Summary

To ensure that the design of your website and the information contained within it is accessible to all, you need everyone in your business to do their part. This means that developing an organisational culture that embraces the importance of accessibility as a core principle is crucial.

For the October edition of our WCAG2.2 Accessibility webinar, we’ll be joined by Daniel Wigglesworth, Head of Digital Products at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation – a housing trust that have been recognised within the Silktide Index as having two of the top websites for accessibility in the UK housing and charity sectors.

Daniel joined the charity in 2015 and has since been building up accessibility awareness, improving its reach and impact within the organisation. He’ll tell us how he sees digital accessibility, sharing techniques on how to raise accessibility awareness across an organisation and some of his experience integrating accessibility within the digital product lifecycle.

His session will focus on:

  • Raising awareness and knowledge of accessibility with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • How to integrate accessibility at each phase of the product lifecycle (brief, design, build, iteration).
  • Specific examples of how Joseph Rowntree Foundation and Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust develop and monitor their accessibility.

By attending the session, you’ll also have the opportunity to receive a free consultation around how your organisation can make it’s online presence more accessible.
