Carbon Reduction Plan

Vision and Mission

VerseOne’s Vision: To positively impact people’s lives by maximising the value, availability, and utility of digital content through an intuitive, design-led approach.

VerseOne’s Mission: To be the “digital glue” of choice that securely and intelligently unifies and transforms vital digital content for anywhere-access solutions, delivering improved health and life experiences and informed decision-making for greater effectiveness and efficiencies. We achieve this by deploying innovative software solutions that deliver on our core strengths of integration, automation, and personalisation to normalise data from multiple sources, deliver it as targeted information to the right user, and empower them to take action.

Commitment to Net Zero by 2040

VerseOne is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040. This commitment aligns with our dedication to sustainability and corporate responsibility, guided by ISO 14001 and PAS 2060 standards. Our baseline year for measuring emissions is from January to December 2023.

Baseline Year: January - December 2023

  • Scope of Emissions: As of the baseline, we have eliminated direct emissions (Scope 1) and indirect emissions from purchased electricity (Scope 2). We are collating data and evaluating strategies to improve tracking of indirect emissions (Scope 3), focusing on business travel, employee commuting, and waste generation.
  • Data Collection: Accurate data collection will be vital for our baseline. We will track travel distances, waste production, and other relevant metrics to ensure comprehensive reporting.

Carbon Reduction Strategies

Short-Term Goals (2023-2025)

  1. Energy Efficiency Improvements:
    • Implement energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems — Ongoing
    • Optimise server and data center operations to reduce energy consumption — Implemented
  2. Sustainable Commuting:
    • Promote remote working and hybrid models to reduce commuting emissions — Implemented
    • Encourage the use of public transport, cycling, and carpooling among employees — Implemented including location next to a major public transport infrastructure hub.
  3. Waste Reduction and Recycling:
    • Implement a robust recycling program — Ongoing
    • Reduce single-use plastics and promote sustainable office supplies — Implemented

Medium-Term Goals (2026-2030)

  1. Renewable Energy Transition:
    • Transition to 100% renewable energy sources for all office locations – Fully implemented – all electricity is sourced from renewable sources.
  2. Supply Chain Management:
    • Choose suppliers who have committed reduce their carbon footprint — Ongoing. E.g. all our software is designed for cloud delivery on Microsoft Azure. Further Microsoft Azure have increased their reuse and recycle rates of all cloud hardware to 82%, eliminate all single use plastic by 2025 and remove its entire historic carbon footprint by 2050 via accredited carbon offset initiatives.
    • Integrate sustainability criteria into procurement processes — Ongoing for material tenders see above
  3. Employee Engagement and Training:
    • Provide training on sustainability practices — Ongoing
    • Encourage innovation in carbon reduction initiatives among staff.

Long-Term Goals (2031-2040)

  1. Advanced Carbon Offset Projects:
    • Invest in certified carbon offset projects, such as reforestation and renewable energy projects.
    • Explore emerging technologies for carbon capture and storage.
  2. Product and Service Innovations:
    • Develop and offer products and services that help our customers reduce their carbon footprints.
    • Continuously improve the energy efficiency and environmental impact of our software solutions.
  3. Comprehensive Reporting and Transparency:
    • Enhance the accuracy and scope of our emissions reporting.
    • Publish annual sustainability reports to track progress and maintain transparency.
  4. Monitoring and Reporting
    • Annual Reviews: Conduct annual reviews of our carbon footprint and reduction strategies to ensure we stay on track to meet our Net Zero goal.
    • Continuous Improvement: Use the findings from our reviews to refine and improve our carbon reduction initiatives.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders, including employees, customers, and suppliers, to foster a collaborative approach to sustainability.

Conclusion

VerseOne is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040, guided by ISO 14001 and PAS 2060 standards. We recognise the importance of accurate data collection and reporting and are dedicated to continuously improving our practices. Through energy efficiency, sustainable commuting, renewable energy, and innovative solutions, we will reduce our carbon footprint and contribute positively to the environment and society.
